On April 20th we said goodbye to our very special Nanny, Eileen Patricia Williams. Aunt Jenny, Uncle Steve, Mommy, Daddy & Devon spent the last night camping out at 218 Salem Avenue in beautiful Spring Lake, the epicenter of our family for 30 years. You slept in your crib in nanny's room. Nanny taught Daddy many things over the years, Devon: She taught me that the greatest city in the world was the one she was born in; she taught me not to be afraid of the ocean, that the higher the wave the bigger the thrill; she taught me to always keep a bag packed, that it was essential to hit the road as much as possible; she taught me not to judge, that everyone deserves a seat at the table; she taught me how to make "a proper drink;" she taught me to open a book and keep reading your entire life; she taught me that you don't need a perfect voice to sing; she taught me to not look so hard for a reason to laugh; she taught me about Tolstoy's three questions before I had ever heard of Tolstoy; she taught me about her life & family, the people and places that I had never known and she taught me how to tell stories to a child about our shared past so that now I can tell them to you. Thank you, Nanny, we will always have you in our hearts.
