Baby's first self portraits

Taking after Michael Daddy, Devon has used the built-in camera on Suzanna Mommy's laptop and snapped these gems. Wait until she can use acrylics!

Devon & her new pal Shel

Mommy was working hard in her "office" - the red couch in our living room - so the kid & Daddy dump a mess of books on the big bed and tear through them. The sight of a book, or a magazine, puts Devon into a frenzy. We settled on The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and happily paged back & forth through it. She took one look of Shel on the back cover and couldn't stop looking at him. We thought a picture was in order.

The New DJ at Club Tremper

Currently on her playlist: Preservation Hall Jazz Band's "Eh La Bas" and Bebel Gilbreto's latest album Momento during bath time, U2's "Vertigo" for diaper changes, Radiohead's "House of Cards" when it's naptime in the car, and of course, when it's bedtime, it's Ray LaMontagne with Lucinda Williams providing the naptime songs. Springsteen's Seeger Sessions songs - Froggie-went-a-courtin, Buffalo Gals & Pay Me My Money Down - are still, after many hundreds of repeated spins, very popular, as well as the Chicago & The Producers soundtracks. Playtime in the morning we listen to the Singers & Standards & Swing/Big Band channels on Music Choice TV.

Goodbye, Gram

Child of the New Evil Empire

It's a little late, but congrats to the Boston Red Sox, the "World's Champions." Peace & love from Devon

Who Doesn't love a Good Teething Cracker?

Autumn in Maine?!!

Usually our visits to Maine end at Labor Day, but Devon had a lucky treat this year, joining Suzanna Mommy, Michael Daddy & Glory on several Autumn visits with Gram, Grampa, Unc JohnnyCakes, Auntie Zen & Reilly at the Soldier's Cove compound.

I got the beautiful wife & cute baby, I'm now over 35 and know southern New Hampshire fairly well, so I will be announcing my intention to seek the nomination.

She gave peas a chance

Day 2 on peas. Not my favorite food either...

Heard, not seen.

So it's 12:55 PM and it's time for nap number two of the day. I put Devon in her crib, her regular sleepy music playing. No protest, no crying. Silence. Ten minutes later, I hear her little voice, soft, sweet. Then louder, cooing. Then SQUEALING in delight! Not so much napping going on here... It's now about 30 minutes later and the squeeling has turned to wimpering, not yet crying. It's only fun to talk to yourself for so long. Besides, it's a beautiful day outside, who wants to nap through that!

My heart breaks in SOHO

Michael Daddy on assignment in Manhattan for one day and it's breaking my heart not being home and hanging with Devon. I only have this photo from my phone to keep staring at.

Another Beautiful Weekend in Pemaquid

St Johns River was mad with sunshine all weekend, the entire milky way was our nighttime canopy as we enjoyed another lovely weekend at the Soldiers Cove family compound. Here we see Devon playing on the floor with Gram, Judge Grampa & Unc JohnnyCakes. For those of you who haven't seen Jonathon Cramer in a while, he lost the "urban prep" look for the neo-mousquetaire/biker look.

Suzanna Mommy & Devon Reunited

Suzanna Mommy was in town while baby was napping. It was a happy reunion on our back deck on a beautiful September summer day.

Stills from October Vogue photo shoot

The "Bowling Look" transcends generations

Daddy was recently out in California working and brought back that cool, detached West L.A. stare home with him, sharing the look with young Devon. Very reminiscent of what Aunt Jenny termed the "bowling look," that moment when Michael Daddy would turn back towards you after bowling a strike.

My Girls

It seems you can never get both kids to smile at the same time — or keep both in focus. Glory is an old pro at having her picture taken, but I've never seen her smile like this!

Devon and Glory enjoy a little quality time on this Saturday morning after an awesome nap (for all three of us!). But we're all missing Michael Daddy very much, hopefully he's coming home tomorrow, if not, then Monday.

You're the Top!

Devon will be starring in Cabaret just as soon as she can learn the time step. Ashlee Simpson, watch out!

Mile High Club

While on one of her many vacations this summer, Devon enjoys some high times with her fellow infant terrible, Wolf. They shared toys and laughs for the short visit that included the previously highlighted trip to Old Orchard Beach.

Breaking News: Baby Sits Up!

Hold On Tight

And Introducing Glory as the Big Sister

Our beloved pup, Glory, a rescue dog from the South Bronx, has spent six years rolling around the northeast with us from city to country to mountains to beach. She is my other guru. And now a loving & protective sister. When we were at the birthing center, Kate & Andrew satyed with her. After the birth we gave Devon's skull cap & my T-shirt to them for Glory. "Don't be alarmed if she tears it up," our midwife told us, "to get out every smell." Glory just laid them on her bed until we came home with Devon, where she gave her the first of the daily puppy kisses.

"Here are your winnings..."

Daddy & Baby on Kentucky Derby Day, when Suzanna won $90 which we used to open Devon's savings account.

How Does She do Such Marvelous Stunts With Such Little Feet?

We end our "vacation" in Maine back where it started at the family compound at Bonney Eagle. Devon's grandfather Roger was, of course, working on stone work and Patty had the great idea, of course, to capture Devon's feet in cement.

A Day at the Beach

Classic photo booth at the Old Orchard Beach boardwalk in Maine. Mommy, Daddy & baby shared a beautiful Summer afternoon with the Cohen pack of NYC in mid-August. Devon's first time to the beach. We went on the carousel together and watched Rose Cohen (a four year old rainbow cat from Manhattan) on the kiddie rides. The photo booth was the last thing we did as you can see by the look on the over tired baby's face. She slept most of the way back to the Bonney Eagle compound.

Art Baby

This kid has been to about 10 different art shows at 6 different galleries. Here she is waiting for a diaper change at VARGA Gallery in Woodstock, NY.
